Childhood/Family life:
Twain, or Clemens, was born in Florida, Missouri. His father was a country merchant at the time. Clemens was one of six siblings; however, three of his siblings died while they were children. When Clemens was four years old, the family moved to Hannibal, Missouri, where he actually got the idea for the setting of his two most famous writings, Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. His father died from pneumonia when Clemens was only eleven years old. When he was twelve, he began to work as a printer's apprentice, which led to his job of a printer when he turned eighteen. While he was a printer, Clemens traveled to many different cities for his work.

Clemens had a personality that was funny, energetic, and ambitious. He loved writing about adventures to keep the author interested and entertained while they read all of his stories. He also had a lot of perseverance, which came into play while he wrote stories and articles for many to read.
